There isn't a forum league, unfortunately, but we could create a micro mini league, or you could join another small league I have running. I'm a bit fed up with it already, however, as I transferred Defoe out after gameweek 1...

I have to confess to not having read any what might be termed 'fantasy' writing save for Lord of the Rings about 20 years ago! A friend did me the disservice of giving me the first 'Farseer' book and now I'm hooked and my wife thinks me a total bore :-) I've never enjoyed three books so much and that includes the aforementioned Tolkien! Never did a Tolkien book bring me to tears, something which RH has done a few times in this trilogy. Real characters, gut-wrenching emotion, human tragedy and beauty, all wrapped up in wonderful storytelling. Not sure if I can deal with the sheer emotional savaging RH puts me through, but I have a feeling I'm going to be a fan for a very long time. Last Edited By: paul 20 October, 2009 18:29. My english is very bad! I love fantasy novels. Of course, my favorites are the farseer books. Now im reading "a song of ice and fire". Afterwards i hope that dragonkeeper was translated into german. I did try to read "the hobbit" in english, but i must translate a lot of vocabulary on each page with a dictionary. Among Robin Hobb, i like George R.R. Martin, Markus Heitz,Stephen King, Tolkien (certainly), and a few "classic" authors like Franz Kafka (Methamorphosis) or Eichendorff (Life of a good-for-nothing).

This is great that Robin's books are still touching people after all these years (ahem, well ok, they're not so old) but still, Robin is a great author and a very nice person too. Hope you'll stay around long enough to discover that too! Martin we do have some german people here on the board, and some (not me) do speak german too so if you're stuck with english, I'd say there's a fairly good chance for people being able to help you here. Paul (not Mr Cooper). I just loved what you said about Robin's books, you resumed it so perfectly! That was beautiful turned. Thanks a lot for joining and here, help yourselves with the wintergreen cookies.
